Stenciled Terra Cotta Pot – Southwest Style

This is a terra cotta pot I stenciled. I made it as a birthday gift for a friend of mine. I went to her house to take a picture of it after she had had it for awhile (hence the water marks on the pot). But as you can see, the stenciling holds up well and still looks great.  Stenciling a terra cotta pot is a great way to make an easy handmade gift for someone.  There are so many wonderful stencil designs available, it’s easy to create a personalized gift!

I think the key to making simple stenciling look extra special is blending the paint, like I did on the yellow and red designs that adorn the lip of the pot. It is much more interesting to have two different colors rather than filling in with just yellow or just red.

So, if you are looking for a simple and fun gift for a friend, here is an idea for you.

Here are the supplies I used:

  • - Terra Cotta Pot
  • - Stencil by Delta Stencil Magic called “Aztec Border”
  • - Stencil Book by Dover Little Activity Books called “Fun with Southwest Indian Stencils”
  • - Delta Acrylic Paint (various colors)
  • - Cosmetic Foam Wedge (to apply the paint)

Happy Crafting,

AJ
