Free Computer Crafting Software – RonyaSoft Poster Designer

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

This looks like a fun software to have and would make a great “rainy day” kid’s craft project this summer.   I was thinking it would be fun to make a homemade banner using the templates they provide for a festive, personalized touch to any party, occasion or holiday.

They have lots of templates and clip art to use in making projects and have a variety of templates – not just posters.  They have (more…)

Hematite Handmade Earrings

Hematite Handmade Earrings

If your mom is like most, then she probably has her ears pierced.  I recently posted instruction on how to make handmade earrings, so I thought I’d continue to post different handmade earring projects that you can easily recreate.

These earrings appeal to lots of people because of the hematite beads used.  Hematite is that beautiful black/grey stone that goes well with lots of different outfits – hence the broad appeal.  Basically, when you are making earrings for someone and you’re not sure what colors they like or wear often, make earrings that go with almost anything.

Stenciled Terra Cotta Pot – Southwest Style

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

This is a terra cotta pot I stenciled. I made it as a birthday gift for a friend of mine. I went to her house to take a picture of it after she had had it for awhile (hence the water marks on the pot). But as you can see, the stenciling holds up well and still looks great.  Stenciling a terra cotta pot is a great way to make an easy handmade gift for someone.  There are so many wonderful stencil designs available, it’s easy to create a personalized gift!

I think the key to making simple stenciling look extra special is blending the paint, like I did on the yellow and red designs that adorn the lip of the pot. It is much more interesting to have two different colors rather than filling in with just yellow or just red.

So, if you are looking for a simple and fun gift for a friend, here is an idea for you.

Here are the supplies I used:

  • - Terra Cotta Pot
  • - Stencil by Delta Stencil Magic called “Aztec Border”
  • - Stencil Book by Dover Little Activity Books called “Fun with Southwest Indian Stencils”
  • - Delta Acrylic Paint (various colors)
  • - Cosmetic Foam Wedge (to apply the paint)

Happy Crafting,
