How To Make Green Beer

green-beerYes, it is almost time for St. Patrick’s Day.  I don’t know how long people have been turning beer green in celebration of this Irish holiday, but it certainly has become a tradition.

Basically, all you need to do is add green food coloring to a pale colored beer.  You only need about 2-3 drops of green food coloring to achieve your green beer.  Alternately, you can mix two drops of blue with two drops of yellow to create the color green, since most food coloring sets only have the primary colors: red, blue and yellow.

As I mentioned above, you will want to add the food coloring to a pale colored beer, so that you are able to see the green color.  I don’t even want to know how much food coloring you’d need to add to Guiness to make it look green – if it is even possible to do so!

If beer isn’t your festive drink of choice, you can turn other beverages green, as well.

There are, of course, other ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than turning beer green, but I must admit that the crafter in me likes the idea of “being crafty” in this fun, festive and EASY way.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you all, and may the luck of the Irish be with you!
