This is a fun holiday crafting idea I got from a friend of mine. She loves the holidays and made these personalized name tags for herself for work. They are really simple to make because almost all the work was already done. They are inexpensive to make, too! I thought this would be a really fun personalized gift to make for someone you know who loves holidays and who wears a name tag at work. This would also be a really fun and easy kid’s craft that turns into a personalized gift for a family member who wears a name tag at work.

The wood shapes are already painted and available at many craft stores, especially as a holiday draws near. Then all you need to do is glue on a pin to the back. You can use hot glue or glue that adheres easily to surfaces like wood and metal (for example, Aleen’s Tacky Glue or Sobo Craft Glue). Just make sure to put on enough glue so the pin is securely adhered to the back of the wood (see picture).

Apply plenty of glue to back of wooden cut-out

Then take blank address labels and put the name of the person on the label. You can handwrite the person’s name or print it using your computer or use rubberstamps. Cut away the excess of the label, so the name fits easily on the name tag (see pictures below).

You could make a gift set of personalized name tags for their favorite holiday or one name tag for each of the holidays. If you choose to make one for each of the holidays, plan ahead so that you can find these pre-painted wood cut-outs throughout the year in your local craft store or online. These name tags are sure to be a big hit!

Happy Crafting,

by Lana Glass

This Thanksgiving Candy Centerpiece is not only tasty but is fun to make. Involve your kids in making this food craft project, they will have a good time helping you make it and will enjoy eating it at the Thanksgiving table later. If you want to make your Thanksgiving fun and memorable for kids, consider creating this edible candy centerpiece.

To see step-by-step photos of this craft project go to this page

1. Take a fall theme basket or any other container and floral foam. Cut the foam to fit the basket. The foam should fit firmly and about one inch below the lip of your basket.

To secure the foam well, you can adhere duct tape to the bottom of the container. Then glue the foam onto the duct tape.

2. Top the foam with fall colored shredded paper.

3. Take your fall silk flowers. If you bought your flowers as a bush, which is usually cheaper, cut the individual flowers from the bush with wire cutters.

You will need to choose what shape your fall decoration will be. It may be oval or round, for example.

Insert the flowers into the arrangement within the oval or round design, spacing the flowers evenly all around. Your Thanksgiving candy and flower centerpiece should look good from all sides.

I used 5 small sunflowers and 6 small mums for this centerpiece.

4. Insert silk maple leaves into the foam all around the lip of your basket. If the maple leaves stems are too short, you can elongate them with a piece of stem wire using floral tape.

5. Finally we come down to making the candy flowers for your Thanksgiving table decoration.

a) You will need MilkyWay® mini bars, bamboo skewers or 16 gauge wire, gold curling ribbon, and a glue gun.

Glue a skewer or a piece of stem wire to the back of each MilkyWay® mini bar. Hold the skewer/wire down for a few seconds before the glue cools and your candy piece is well secured on the stick.

Finish up by tying gold curling ribbon around each stick.

b) Insert the candy pieces in several rows in the front of the centerpiece and in its back.

6. Let’s make different candy flowers.

a) I used butterscotch candy and cinnamon discs. Attach 2 or 3 pieces of candy to each stick and tie a piece of yellow or red curling ribbon around each candy flower stem.

b) Put the candy flowers into the candy bouquet within the chosen design.

7. If you want, you can add some fall foliage. I added red berries with brown grass in the center of the decoration.

Your beautiful edible fall decoration is ready! You can decorate your Thanksgiving table with it or just give it away as a beautiful gift to your friends or family members.
